Today I am sharing with you the complete steps for apply Indian passport online. Almost every Indian citizen likes to travel abroad for studies, jobs, travel etc. For these purposes, you have to apply an Indian passport and here are the complete steps for every Indian citizen who is going to apply an Indian passport.

How to apply Indian passport online?
www.passportindia.gov.in is the official website of government to apply Indian passport online.
Enter this website address in your web browser or click the link to open the website directly. In the website, you can see four sections at the left side of the web page.
1. New User Registration – The Indian citizens who wants to apply the passport for the first time should click this section and complete the registration process.
2. Existing User Login – If you have a login ID already, click this section and follow the steps
3. Check Appointment Availability – This section helps you to check the passport office appointment availability and fix your schedule
4. Track Application Status –You can check your passport application status by clicking this section
You are reading this post because you want to know how to apply Indian passport and you are a fresh user. So you have to click the first link New User Registration
Now you have to fill your basic personal details in the form opened. Some of the queries are:
*Register to apply at CPV Delhi/Passport Office
(CPV application for some official purpose like diplomatic and passport office is for normal) *Click Passport office
*Select the passport office nearer to you and fill the required basic details
Don’t forget to give hint question in the form which helps you to recover the password if you forget. Create a login id and password for the website and type the captcha same as provided
*Click the register button and the site will send a verification mail in your email id provided in the form and you have to open that link in your email to verification
After completing these steps, open the homepage and click the existing user login. Login with your id and password.
Applicant Home – Page
*To apply for Indian Passport, you have to click the 1st link : Apply for fresh passport or re-issue of passport
* In the screen opened you can see two options, Alternative 1 and Alternative 2
Alternative 1: If you are applying the passport offline, you can opt alternative 1. You can fill the application printout with pen and upload the filled form and apply.
Alternative 2: If you are applying the passport online, you can opt alternative 2. Fill the form online through computer and submit.
Click alternative 1 and provide your state and district in the page.
Passport Type - Page
*Applying for : Fresh passport / Re issue of passport
If you are applying for fresh passport, click it and if you need to reissue the passport for some reasons, click re-issue
*Type of application: Normal/Talkaal
Click the type as you want. Normal is meant for the normal procedure time and talkaal is for speedy procedure
*Type of passport booklet: 36 pages/60 pages
Select your preferred type and click the next button

Applicant Details – Page
Provide Name (First name and middle name)
Sur name (last name)
Provide the basic details asked in the form
*Non-ECR category: Yes/No
(if you can submit the certificate of 10th standard, then you should click YES. If you can’t submit it, then click NO)
After providing details, click the agree checkbox and save and next
Family Details - Page
Provide your family details asked in this page fully. Then click Next button
Present Residential Address – Page
Provide the details of your address and the asterisks marks fields are mandatory.
The police station which chooses by you will done your passport enquiry and verification
Click Next button if you completed
Emergency Contact – Page
Provide Name and address, mobile number, telephone number, email id. They will contact you in these possible ways. So fill it carefully. Click Next button
Identity Certificate/Passport details – page
*Identity certificate is a certificate issued by the government in certain situation. If you have certificate like that, you can click yes and if you don’t have, click NO
*Diplomatic/Official Passport: If you have it, click details available and if you don’t have, click details not available/ never hold diplomatic or official passport
*Applied for passport, but not issued: Click YES/NO
Then click the next button
Other Details - Page
This page asks some questions with YES/No answer which has to be answered. Questions are related to criminal proceedings, convinced by court, passport refused/denied etc
After completing all the questions, click next button
Passport Details Verification
You can see the preview of your passport in this page. You have to verify the details thoroughly. You can click the NEXT button if everything is correct.
Self Declaration
Choose the proof of birth and Address
You can choose Aadhar card as proof for both if Aadhar details are correct.
You can avail the SMS service by paying extra 50 rupees, if you want it, tick the check box
Fill the place and date and click agree.
Then preview the application and save the form and submit it.
Payment
Pay and schedule appointment >>> Pay as per your convenience from the methods available.
You can check the appointment availability and fix the appointment
Now the online application for Indian passport finished. Then you have to appear in the passport office you choose on the fixed time and date. Take the proofs, related documents, copy of the application and submit for the verification. After the procedure in the office, there will be a police verification within 2 weeks. Now the procedures are finished and the passport will reach in your hands through Indian Postal Services.
